A three storey hotel by the Wisconsin caves, burned in the 1920s and abandoned since, known locally as Hotel Hell. The stairs to the third floor are gone.

The hotel stands close to the Maribel Caves in Wisconsin, three storeys, surrounded by woods with more woods across the road. It burned in the 1920s and has been effectively abandoned ever since. Local tradition holds that Al Capone owned it, which is a claim attached to a great many buildings in the upper Midwest and has never been documented for this one.

The third floor can no longer be reached because of holes in the staircase. Visitors who did get up there described cold hands pressing against their backs. From the road, people report that the building appears lit in every detail when there is a new moon. If you shine a torch at a second floor window, the story goes, something flashes back.

The basement carries the heaviest reports and is where the name Hotel Hell came from: marks on the walls that visitors took for blood, and shouting from below. The building has been fenced and posted repeatedly over the years, and it remains private property.
