Mission Mill
Oregon · United States · Bridge
A thriving woollen mill, now a museum. Jason Lee's original house stands on the grounds, along with other buildings moved here.
Mission Mill at Salem, Oregon was a working woollen mill and is now a museum and home to organisations including the Salem Art Center.
The grounds also hold the original house of Jason Lee, the missionary generally credited with founding Salem, along with several other historic buildings that were moved onto the site to save them.
What employees describe is a young woman running across the grounds.
A site made up of transplanted buildings is an odd case. Each of them came from somewhere else, with whatever history it had, and was set down next to buildings it never stood beside. If a haunting belongs to a place rather than a structure, a museum like this should be empty. The accounts say otherwise.
The mill machinery is preserved and the site is open to visitors.
