On the tenth floor, crying and shadows are reported. The explanation offered locally is that a woman fell or jumped from the presidential suite some time in the 1940s. It is unverified and no name has ever been attached.

The lobby has the most distinctive report in the building. Between midnight and six in the morning, staff describe the sound of high heeled footsteps crossing back and forth. Not passing through. Back and forth.

On the second level a gentleman gambler is described. During the late 1920s and 1930s there was an illegal casino in the hotel, which is where he comes from.

An update from March 2007 notes competing claims about where that casino actually was, with some accounts placing it in the basement instead. The basement is also where a good deal of the reported movement happens, so the question is not merely academic.
