The hills dividing Kerr County from Bandera County have their own unexplained lights, in the same family as Marfa and Anson.

Bandera Pass runs through the hills separating Kerr County from Bandera County in Texas, and a book held at the Kerrville library names it among the most haunted places in the county.

It has its own ghost lights, and locally they are put in the same category as the lights at Marfa and at Anson, neither of which has ever been satisfactorily explained either.

The interpretation given here is that the lights are guardians rather than the restless dead, which is a different tradition from most of the American accounts and closer to the older Spanish and Native understanding of this country.

Bandera Pass was a genuine strategic point, fought over repeatedly, and the fight between Texas Rangers and Comanche warriors here in 1841 is documented.

The pass is crossed by a public highway.
