Ferguson's Cemetery lies out along a county blacktop near Plato, Minnesota, surrounded by cornfields with nothing else in sight. Large pines frame it and there is an iron gate at the front.

It is said to be occupied by a small boy.

The detail that carries the story is the grave itself. His headstone is small, and it sits apart from every other burial in the ground, alone in the south west corner.

Separate burial happened for particular reasons in the nineteenth century: an unbaptised child, a death the community would not accept, a family with no plot. Whatever the reason here, somebody decided he would not lie with the rest, and everyone visiting the cemetery can see that they did.

The cemetery is small, rural and belongs to the families in it.
