Harry Andrews built a castle by hand on the Little Miami River and never finished it. A heat sensitive camera produced the picture the staff still show.

Loveland Castle in Ohio, properly Chateau Laroche, was built by one man. Harry Delos Andrews, a medic in the First World War who was mistakenly reported dead, spent the rest of his life laying stone by hand on the bank of the Little Miami River, half an hour from Cincinnati. He never finished it.

Several figures are reported in it.

The one the castle is known for came from a camera that detects heat, taken for reasons the staff will explain. The image shows a young page seated on the lap of a king.

Andrews built the place as a headquarters for a boys' club he ran, and the medieval framing was his throughout, so the figures reported in it match the story he built into the walls rather than anything that happened on the site.

He died in 1981 from burns received while burning rubbish on the grounds.

The castle is open to visitors and still run by the club he founded.
