Two students died in the Magnolia dormitory. The attic window was visible from outside, and everyone coming in at night looked up to see whether the light.

Bussey Hall at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia had four floors and an attic. Accounts collected here concern two students who died in the building during the 1950s. One is said to have hanged herself in her wardrobe. The other fell down the lift shaft.

The shaft still exists. The doors were welded shut.

The part of the building that gathered the reports was the attic, and specifically its window, which could be seen from outside the hall. Residents describe it as almost a habit that you looked up at it as you came in at night. Sometimes the light was on. Sometimes it was off. The dormitory director was supposed to hold the only key, and there was very little reason for anyone to go up there at all.

An update in November 2004 added the second death to a listing that had previously carried only the first. Neither is presented here as a piece of folklore, and the university's own records are the appropriate place to confirm the details.
