It is one of the worst fires in the history of American college housing, and it changed how residence halls in this country are built and inspected. Sprinklers, fire doors and alarm requirements in student accommodation across the United States trace back in part to what happened in this building.

The college commemorates the students who died, and no names are set down here.

What is reported in the hall now belongs to them.

The building is student housing and is not open to visitors.
