It has a reputation locally for lights in the sky, which is the least interesting thing about it.

What has actually been happening is that people have been getting into the abandoned building and leaving evidence behind: inverted pentagrams painted in red on the floor and walls, and the remains of what visitors describe as rituals.

That is not a haunting. It is vandalism of a historic building by people who came out there specifically to do it, and it is a pattern repeated at isolated rural churches across the midwest, particularly during the satanic panic years of the 1980s and 1990s.

The church was built by hand in the 1850s by a congregation who cut the logs themselves, and it is genuinely irreplaceable.
