The abandoned house near York Haven, Pennsylvania is called Kunkle's Mansion locally, and it has two competing stories attached to it.

This one holds that a wealthy doctor lived there with his family, and that a jealous man murdered the doctor and his wife in the bathtub and both children on the swing set behind the house.

The other version, told about the same building a few miles away in Lewisberry, describes a large isolated family and a mother who could not bear it.

Neither is supported by any record, and the fact that two irreconcilable massacres are attached to one abandoned farmhouse is the most useful thing on this page. It is how these stories work: an empty building in the woods is an unanswered question, and the community supplies an answer.
