The large theatre at Independence High School in San Jose, California has a presence the students call George. The legend holds that he fell from one of the catwalks while working above the stage.

What is reported is theatrical rather than frightening. Lights switching on and off during presentations. Seats folding down and back up with nobody beside you. Students rehearsing alone describe him playing with the lighting rig, which is the detail that comes up most often.

The entry is worth keeping precisely because of what the students themselves say next. Nobody has ever died in that theatre. The fall that supposedly explains George did not happen, and no history of the land or the building has ever been produced to account for him either.
