Inside the building, voices and footsteps are reported in the corridors, and one corridor in particular: the one that carries the names of the school's past principals.

Both reports have the same shape, which is what makes them worth recording together. The sound is always around the corner, or down the hall, and it never survives being approached.

Schools are enormous, hard surfaced and acoustically strange when empty, and staff working late in them hear a great deal. That explains most of it and possibly all of it.
