The sorority house at Alma College in Michigan has one room that produces almost all of its accounts, known to everyone there as the pink room.

The sisters staying in it woke one night to a figure pacing back and forth between the closet door and the bedroom door.

They began screaming. The house president came out of her own room and opened the door, and the figure went past her on its way out.

That sequence is what makes this account unusually good. There is a witness who arrived because of the noise rather than because she was already looking, and she saw it from a different position, in a different direction, within seconds.

Student housing produces an enormous volume of reports and very few of them have a second witness who was asleep moments earlier.

The house is a private student residence.
