Between roughly two and five in the morning, on most mornings, a man is reported where the creek runs under the road. His name is given locally as Lazlo. He is in flannel fishing clothes, and he fishes and smokes his pipe. He does not bother anyone. He sits there.

Across the road his wife, Helen, waits for him with her hands on her hips and an expression the accounts describe as annoyed.

During the same hours, smoke is sometimes seen rising from the house the couple used to live in.

This is the gentlest entry in the American section of this archive and one of the very few that is genuinely funny. Two people, named, doing exactly what they presumably did for years: him out at the creek before dawn, her waiting for him to come in.
