The Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah was built between 1905 and 1908 and was for a long time the tallest building in Nevada, with the town's first lift. The hotel closed in 1999 but was restored and reopened in 2011. It is famous for the haunting of the Lady in Red, said to be a murdered prostitute on the fifth floor, and guests report finding pearls left on their pillows.
