Mission San José at Fremont, California was founded in the late 1700s and has been destroyed twice. A fire took the original, and the 1906 earthquake levelled the old church. The mission was rebuilt in the 1800s and the church around forty years ago.

What visitors report includes cold spots and mists inside the mission itself, and the same in the courtyard around the fountain.

The history under it should be stated plainly. The California missions were built by Ohlone people who were brought in, held, and put to work, and who died in very large numbers of disease and of the conditions they lived under. Thousands are buried at the missions, most of them in unmarked ground.

The mission is open to visitors and the cemetery is part of the site.
