Put a can of drink on the grave at Homer, Nebraska and you will not be able to lift it. When you finally can, the story says, it is empty.
Lottie's Grave lies at Homer, Nebraska, off a gravel road where visitors report lights, both on the road itself and coming from inside the burial ground.
The ritual attached to it is unusually specific, which is what has kept it alive. Place a can of fizzy drink on the grave. You will not be able to pick it up again. When it finally lifts, the can is empty.
Additional information from September 2004 gives what locals hold to be the reason she is there. Lottie fell in love with another man. Her husband, or her previous lover depending on the telling, killed them both and threw the bodies from a bluff into the river.
The account also holds that she would answer if called on by name.
No record supports the killing, and it is recorded here as local tradition. What people go out there to do is the can, which is a test anyone can run and which has been run by a great many teenagers on that gravel road.
