The horse field
Indiana · United States · Haunted site
Two black horses and a black foal. The only shelter in five acres was one enormous oak in the middle, and they ran to it when the lightning started.
In the late 1800s a storm hit this small town in Indiana harder than anything anyone there had seen.
In a field of about five acres there were two black horses and a black foal. The only shelter in the whole field was one enormous oak tree standing in the middle of it.
When the lightning began they ran straight to it.
Anyone who has kept animals knows what happens next, and it is the reason you do not shelter under a lone tree in open ground.
What is reported in the field is the three of them.

The field is private land near French Lick.
