A twisting hill road in Bucks County with a pull off, a trail into the woods, and a rock formation at the top that is worth the walk on its own.

Top Rock Trail is easy to miss. From Route 313, north from Doylestown or south from Quakertown, turn onto Route 563, follow it a few miles, then turn left. The road winds up a twisting hill through open country.

Around the second bend there is a pull off at the roadside with a trail running from it into the woods. There has been logging up in there over the years, which is why the track exists at all.

Follow it to the top of the hill and you come to a rock formation substantial enough that people make the walk for it regardless of anything else.

Haycock Mountain and the country around Nockamixon has collected a great deal of folklore over the years, some of it genuinely old and some of it recent invention by people who came up looking for something to find.

The trail is on wooded ground, it is not signposted, and it climbs. Anyone going should treat it as a hike rather than a stop.
