Felt married again. His second wife disliked spending time at the house.

That is the whole of the documented part and it needs no embellishment: a man builds a house for his wife, she dies in it almost immediately, and the woman who came after would not stay there.

Felt himself was an inventor of consequence. He built the comptometer, the first practical key driven calculating machine, and it made him a fortune and changed office work in every industrialised country.

The house later served as a seminary and then as part of a state prison complex, which is its own strange sequence.

It has been restored and is open for tours and events.
