Dudleytown is a set of cellar holes and foundations in the woods at Cornwall, Connecticut, reached after a long walk in.

The legend is that the place was cursed, that the families who lived there went mad, and that the settlement died off.

What actually happened is duller and better documented. Dudleytown was a marginal hilltop farming settlement in a bad location: poor thin soil, a deep valley that gets very little sun, and a long haul to anywhere. When better land opened up further west in the 1800s, the people who lived there did what everyone else in upland New England did, which was leave.

Glowing lights are reported among the foundations, sometimes in daylight.

The curse appears to have been assembled in the twentieth century, largely by one author.

The land is owned by a private association, it is closed to the public, and trespass is actively prosecuted.
