The northernmost point on the road out of Maple Falls, Washington. Its back fence was the Canadian border. It burned down in 1985.

Take the only road north out of Maple Falls, Washington and follow it six or seven miles, past a lake, until it begins to turn sharply west. Border House stood on the north side of the road at that point, the northernmost building on it.

The house faced south, and a small creek ran through the front garden near the road.

A house whose garden fence is an international boundary is an unusual thing in itself, and this stretch of the Cascade foothills was smuggling country for most of the twentieth century. The site is the last thing on the road before the border, which is very likely why anybody built there in the first place.
