For years the empty plant was a party spot for teenagers, a shelter for the homeless, and a place people came to do things in the dark.

The Ovaltine factory at Villa Park, Illinois made the malt drink for decades and then closed, and through the late 1970s and 1980s the empty plant filled up with other uses.

Teenagers used it for parties. Homeless people slept in it. And people came out there at night to perform what they described as rituals.

Some of those who stayed in the building, and some of the party goers in later years, reported that the place was full of things.

That combination is worth separating out. An abandoned industrial building with people living rough in it, teenagers drinking in it, and occasional occultists in it will produce reports from all three groups, and only one of those groups was sober and there every night.

The building has since been converted into apartments and the water tower with the name on it still stands.

It is private residential property.
